JoineryJoinery is designed to meet the structural and aesthetic needs of the project. We use many notches that can not be duplicated by machines. Our decisions on joinery are based on historical models of frames that have stood the test of time. We often use old English tying joints because it works very well and is found in 600 year old barns. In today’s timber frames the complex and precision joinery is celebrated by showing off the notches, which may have been hidden or covered up in the old days. We believe that seeing what gives strength to a timber frame is part of the intangible sense of security one finds while living in one of these beautiful homes. |
