Build Your Dream Home Now
Building your own home could be the most challenging process you may ever undertake. A client of ours said after an emotional frame raising; “It is the closest thing a man can do to giving birth”. Building the timber frame home of your dreams should be a rewarding and less painful event in your life.
Everyone has a special set of circumstances for building your dream retirement home, that special second home, a real-estate investment, or a place to raise your family. Your involvement in the process could vary from
- retaining an architect and leaving it solely in their hands
- being directly involved throughout the design and building process
- or a combination of these.
Northern Timberworks can help you through the steps involved in building custom timber frame homes:
- Selecting a Design Option
- Selecting a Building Option
- Consultation
- Design Retainer
- Contract
1. Design Options
- NTW can recommend an architect we have used or one that is close to you
- We can design your home with you
- We can adopt a plan or concept that you bring to us
- We can design a timber frame structure for your existing plans
2. Building Options
- NTW can supply and install the timber frame and panels
- We can supply the timber frame to you or your contractor with a technical assistant throughout the assembly and raising
- We can put together a complete home package and act as the general contractor
- We can recommend one of our builders nearest to you to look after your project
3. Consultation
When you contact us through e-mail or by phone we can elaborate on your options and determine our next step.
- With a simple preliminary drawing we can show you some framing options and give you a close estimate on the cost of the frame.
- If you have a plan, or even a picture, we can discuss your budget and determine if the plan you brought to us is feasible.
- We can make suggestions or offer alternative design solutions.
Initial consultations are free and if you want to move the process forward we have more options for you.
4. Design Retainer
Our design team will take your ideas and develop some preliminary drawings that are suitable for pricing purposes. This process does not commit you to us or the project and the results may change your direction or lead to a contract with us.
5. Contract
We can give you a price on your frame directly from your drawings, or through the design process. The time limit on the proposal is usually 30 days. The contract will be drawn up for your perusal with as much detail as is necessary to make both parties understand what is included and what is expected from both parties.
